Mila is a Zanzibar-based underwater photographer, storyteller, and founder of The Mermaid Experience — an ethical dolphin and whale-watching venture on the island. Since 2019, she has been documenting Zanzibar's resident dolphin population, building a visual archive that brings their world to audiences far from the water.
She is also the founder of a Molchanov Freediving school on the island — a space where the water-safety and breath-hold skills that underpin her own underwater work are shared with students and fellow ocean lovers.
Her work sits at the intersection of ocean conservation and content creation. In partnership with Under The Wave Zanzibar, she contributes to photo-identification and population monitoring — turning each dive into both a story and a data point for the animals she photographs.
Mila believes presence in wildlife tourism can be a force for good when done with care — favoring genuine engagement over withdrawal, and education over spectacle. This philosophy shapes both her expeditions and her photography, from intimate dolphin portraits to the label she is now building, Sacred Ocean.
